According to Sandra O’Neill
‘I started performing solo when I moved from Ireland to Cambridge in 1989 to study Modern Languages. Returning from placements abroad I began singing more regularly in venues around the city and in London. Although I am predominantly a lead singer I love creating and experimenting with harmonies. In fact I sometimes find it more interesting than singing lead vocal, probably why I didn’t audition for the series, ‘I’d do anything’…plus, light opera scares me….
‘To date I have sung on 13 albums, most of which are available on the Burning Shed label. In 1996 I formed the duo Alias Grace with pianist Peter Chilvers and we are currently recording our third album. I am also recording my first solo album which will also be released on Burning Shed.”
