Earthwish (2010) is a two-part interactive artwork realized through the dispersal of 1,000 limited edition die cut prints made in two versions. One shows an altered NASA photo of earthrise from the moon; the other is blank on both sides. Both can be made into a one- room house.
The project asks viewers to Build Your Own world, placing themselves on the moon to look back at our Earth. A roving performer offers viewers a blank or printed piece. Participants can take the Earthrise House away or add a wish to the EarthWishes display accumulated throughout the evening. Earthwish asks us to take action on the line from Tennyson: ‘Come my friends ‘tis not too late to seek a newer world.’
