Radio Nonchalance (2010) is a pirate radio transmission, run by a “rogue band of festival infiltrators”. This FM broadcast will reach the blocks surrounding the festival; it will also be mirrored by a digital web-radio ‘net-cast’ that can be streamed through smart phones. Listeners will be treated to programming that will guide them through the immediate area on a journey of discovery, both within and directly outside of the South Hall. Radio Nonchalance leads participants toward secret pathways and hidden installations, encouraging them to ‘tune in’ to the untapped or unnoticed possibilities throughout the urban landscape.
Commissioned by ZER01 for the 2010 01SJ Biennial, and presented with the support of the James Irvine Foundation.
