Suzy Poling combines light experiments with her sounds where she projects light projections by use of video, film and lenticular lenses. The nature of these occurrences is all based on chance and minimalism that are as spontaneous as the sounds generate with the tape manipulation reactions.
The Sonic Tube is the next incarnation of her light art experiments with video and sound. This tube is a construction with bent plexi glass, white fabric, various lenses and projections. Lights will swirl and bend inside of this light machine along with some synthesized sounds.
Poling is interested in the regeneration within materials and sound. She works with photography, video, film, video, broken glass, multi dimensional lenses, chemistry and sound to celebrate and elaborate the phenomenon and permanence.
Commissioned by ZER01 for the 3rd 01SJ Biennial, and presented with the support of the James Irvine Foundation.
