Tripwire

Tad Hirsch

Tripwire (2006) consists of custom-built sound sensors hidden in a coconut. It was hung in the trees in Chavez Plaza in downtown San Jose directly in the flight path of landing planes during the 1st 01SJ Biennial in 2006. If it detected excessive sound, it automatically triggered a pre-recorded call to the airport complaint line on behalf of the city’s residents and wildlife.
